It was the Floyd fight that started it. He got the whole country backing him, believing in him, it was his grandest opportunity and he knew it and came up short despite a valiant effort. He believed he could win with probably doubted himself that he would. But he probably didnt think in a million years he'd be KO'd in such embarrassing fashion.

The PAC fight was just devastating, as in that fight Hatton was the man, the reigning champ, the pre fight favourite in a lot of bookies and experts eyes, expected to mail this little Asian bloke, and a terrible training camp, plus peaking weeks before, added to a decline in punch resistance and catching a great fighter in his prime put paid to his dream of rematching Floyd.

The devastating loss at the hands of Pacquiao was the straw that broke the camels back.

But the Floyd fight was the pot of gold, the long term dream and losing that fight in which he carried so much pressure for is what set him off.

well thats because Floyd was to chickenshlt to fight Hatton at his comfortable weight @ 140...so Hatton had to lose weight again to fight Lazcano. SO then came Paulie....TKOd him @ 140.....Then Manny said...I wont be a puzzy like FLoyd and make him come up to 147....After Manny moved up Two divisions to fight the bigger DLH....He moved Down to HAtton weight.....and well, 3 years later.............

Anything else dumb you wanna Add?

Nah Hatton had a bunch of excuses after that fight (and so did his fans) but the Pac loss was as devastating as a loss can be in boxing. He still had excuses after that but the loss really pushed him over the edge and made him contemplate suicide.

I think the Pac loss was way more humiliating.

Floyd gave Hatton a boxing class.

Hatton humbled himself after that fight, even changed his trainer who he had been with forever. Hatton tried to change himself, he tried to work on his defense, in reality, the boxing lesson Floyd gave him messed him up. He wanted to fight like Floyd, so much so he hired his dad to train him

Hatton was mentally defeated like Prince Naseem when his lost his first match, he started to doubt himself, Pacman fought a guy who was a shadow of his former self.

If Pac had fought the Hatton Floyd fought, i think Hatton had a better chance in winning.

Floyd beat him up so bad Hatton hired Floyd's dad. Yes.

                    This.

Floyd showed Hatton he wasn't invincible. Hatton's 43-0(?) going into that fight was more than just a pretty record, it was a comfort blanket, and aurora of invincibility which he relied on. Once it had been taken, the doubt crept in and his mental state deteriorated.

Floyd and Pac didn't do shit. Ricky Hatton ruined himself. He knew that binge drinking and eating would take its toll and he kept on doing it. Only when he realized that he should've been in shape his entire career it was already too late.
