WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (37-2-2, 16 KOs) continues to discuss his willingness to stage a unification bout with WBO beltholder Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15KOs). Pirog is scheduled to return on May 1 in Russia against Nobuhiro Ishida of Japan. Should Pirog win, he is possibly going to face IBF champion Daniel Geale on an August date in the United States. Sturm is also planning to make his next title defense in the month of August.

Eh... He's willing to leave Germany? Amazing... But still not willing to come to the states and fight Martinez.

Sturm's mandatory obligation to fight Golovkin is due in Sept i believe and Pirog is already in talks for Unification with Geale in Aug. This is a cheap ploy to try and get out of fighting Golovkin for about the 4th time.

Sturm could fight anyone and he'll get good ratings and a large crowd in Germany. It looked like he filled up a stadium with freaken Ronald Hearns. Why would he need to fight Pirog in Moscow when he could draw a large crowd with Pirog in Germany? And I haven't seen much evidence that Pirog is a draw himself in Russia.
