  • Top 5 match-ups that didnt happen in the 2000s era

The 1990s has had so many missed fights, Bowe vs Lewis, Jones vs McClellan, Toney vs Jackson, Dela Hoya vs Tszyu, and those title fights that were already scheduled but never took place, Norris-Trinidad and Whitaker-Quartey.

Looking back at the previous decade (2000-2009), what are the top 5 match-ups that regretfully through for boxing fans, these dream fights didnt happen.

    1. Mayweather vs Cotto (2008) - As much as Mayweather's reluctance to fight Manny Pacquiao, this will also hurt his legacy, not taking on then 31-0 Miguel Cotto, there is slim chance for this fight to happen even if Cotto emerges victorious over Margarito, Floyd would only come up and said why would he fight someone that was already been beaten by Manny Pacquiao.

    2. Jones vs Michalczewski - an old issue, possible in early 2000s, both cheated boxing fans, Roy now fights overseas when he was done, why he didnt agree to it back then.

    3. Pavlik vs Abraham - being talk upon when they were middleweight champions, but Arthur moved up and Kelly Pavlik's reputation dropped further following the loss to Sergio Martinez.

    4. Pacquiao vs Valero - If Edwin Valero didnt commit suicide, a fight with Pacman will happen anytime.

    5. Calzaghe vs Ottke - like RJJ-Dariusz, the venue of this fight seems to be the problem.

    Good list, I'd add Wlad Klitschko-Lewis, Mayweather-Margarito and Pacquiao-Campbell.

Pacquiao vs Guzman was a match up that I really wanted to see. Forrest vs De la Hoya also.

Pac-Guzman, wanna see that as well at 130lbs, Guzman was coming forward makes this an exciting match-up, for the Heavyweight division, its a pity between Lewis and the Klitschkos, all we could savior was a six rounds of action.

I would have liked to see Valero vs Marquez too
Cotto vs Hatton would've have been a nice fight
I would've liked to see how Pavlik vs Williams played out but that fights lost some obvious luster given both their careers
