  • Who has the best chin: JMM, Pac, MAB

How would you rank them in term of their chin? JMM has been down the most times yet he's the only who hasn't been stopped. But it could be attributed to his better defense.

    What do you guys think?

They all have a solid chin.

Marquez's is probably the worst but his great defence makes up for that. Believe it or not, I actually think Pacquiao's is the best, but his style his sometimes just too raw.

Pacquiao tends to jump away when he gets nailed. See the contrast in how he dealt with Morales' harder shots, compared to Barrera.

JMM has gotten dropped and hurt by lesser men, but out of all of these guys he is the most dangerous one when hurt. His chin is deceptive, but not as good as the other ones of these three.

What are we calling 'a chin' in this instance?

Simply the ability to take a punch without getting knocked out? Or are we saying a chin is the ability to take a shot without being moved at all?

If the first, Marquez has faced the best without taking a single KO loss. He's been knocked down numerous times, but that says more about his defense because, as it stands, he's taken huge shots without ever really looking like he was going to get knocked out.

They've all been down quite a few times, Marquez probably the most, but he's also the only one who hasn't been knocked out numerous times.

          Difficult to say.

Barrera and Pac have both dropped Marquez. Marquez has knocked out Pac, dropped Pac and hurt Barrera, while Pac has dropped and stopped Barrera. Apart from that, only Barrera and Pac have been knocked out other than these fights. They've all been down a few times, though Marquez has been down more often lately as he aged.

It's interesting. I'd say the others are more likely to get knocked out, while Marquez is more likely to get dropped, but get straight back up without being that hurt.

Whether that's due to their chins, how they get caught, or their recovery, it's hard to say. The history of them has shown that while Marquez is probably more likely to get dropped, he's never been hurt as badly as both Pac and Barrera have numerous times.

            It's quite a fascinating question.

Morales had the best chin of the lot.

^facts right there. IMO if a prime Paulie Malignaggi (who has next to no power) were to punch each man 100 times on the head, Pacquiao would last the longest. Pac is the hardest to move of the lot and youll have to clock him on the chin as did JMM in their 4th. Next is Barrera and Id say JMM is most likely to get KTFO.
If however a prime Iron Mike were to give each man 10 blows to the head, only then will I favour Marquez over the lot. This guy has been clocked on the chin numerous times but always got up. Even his knockdown against Barrera was right on the chin if you look closely. JMM followed by Pac then Barrera in that order as the last to sleep.

                    Morales & Pacquiao> Marquez & MAB

Morales's chin in his prime was granite. Although Pacquiao has taken the hardest shots so It might be him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marquez has been down as much as all of them combined. He's been down around 11-13 times but he's the only one to not have gotten stopped despite fighting 60 fights in 5 weight classes 4 of which were against Pacquiao
