  • Comments Thread For: Haye is Inspired By Joe Calzaghe To Retire in October

WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is fully focused on retiring from boxing by the end of October. Haye's position is inspired by former super middleweight king, Joe Calzaghe, who closed the final chapeter on his 16-year career in 2008, with 46 wins and no defeats. Calzaghe spent some time with Haye on Tuesday at the Hayemaker Gym in London. Haye faces IBO/IBF/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko on July 2 in Hamburg, Germany.

    Haye Gets Knocked Out!

Aside from what happens to Haye when he gets caught with a straight right hand or left hook, the biggest obstacle Haye has with Klitschko, is that Wladamir is pissed off. Hate has done a great job of trash talking a long time, which has provided GREAT motivation for Klitschko. That's not good news for Haye.

If (and its a big if) Haye manages to beat both klitschkos before october then he`d be daft to retire, everyone will be wanting him to fight everywhere but the only trouble is that if he beat them 2 there is literally nobody else left to fight

If he wants to be like Calzaghe he should fight a true legend like Evander Holyfield and then James Toney

This guy Haye has a "new" story twice a day dribbling from his ever ready mouth. This is the first time he's given Calzaghe as a reason. He's always said that when he turned pro he decided he would quit before his 31st birthday, and he has been reiterating this ad nauseam.

A compulsive liar I'd call him. and how can he emulate Calzaghe when he hasn't a perfect record with only little more than half of Calzaghe's total fights, and has really fought nobody for the last 3 or more years. His heavyweight fights could be truthfully called scandalous shams. He's had NO heavyweight career at all.

In fact, to call them "fights" is an insult to fighters all over the world.

There are probably 5-6 contenders who could beat him tomorrow. The guys that the Klitschko's beat, many with zero losses, only looked bad because the Klitschkos were so superior to them. They are actually good boxers and fighters, some of whom were fancied to beat the Klitschkos.
