  • Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr.'s Weight Being Held Back? Is Julio Struggling?

There are unconfirmed rumors in Mexico that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is over the WBC's 30-day safety weight. Chavez returns on September 17th in Mexico, making the first defense of his WBC middleweight title against Ronald Hearns. The WBC held their 30-day safety weigh-in on Thursday. Hearns weighed in at 174.51-pounds. The WBC never disclosed the weight of Chavez and never confirmed whether or not the boxer actually complied with the safety weigh-in.

Would be suicide if Chavez Jr had to move up. Lol. Dude is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Starve myself and get KO'd, or move up and get KO'd by Froch, Ward, Kessler, Dirrell and Bute. Hmmm... what to do!

      Hmmm....

There's something completely wrong with the system, when a fighter is allowed to gain 20 lbs after the weigh-in.

The WBC conduct when it comes to Chavez is just a disgrace, they seem to allow him to get away with anything that's everything because of his dad, that's not right..

Funny but if he rises to super middleweight, the WBC can't protect him.

Ariza's only good at moving fighters up in weight; when it comes to down - he fails because there's no PED that helps with doing that.
