you do realize that vargas and mayorga were already considered done right?

mosley fighting vargas and mayorga at that stage of their careers is similar to what roy jones is doing with omar sheika and lacy.

a few years earlier the fights would have mattered but not at the point it happened.

you have to remember how mayorga and vargas was looked upon at the times it happened.

having that questionable win over collazo didn't help people's view of mosley as well.

cotto shouldn't have lost to margo anyways. getting beat up by an unskilled brawler is shameful.

load of ****. Margarito isn't a great technical fighter, but he is massive for 147, has freakish stamina and workrate, and a cast iron jaw. He is also good at putting effective pressure on guys that breaks them down, and his hands are heavy and his punches take a massive toll. He also has a great resume.

Cotto is a much, much better fighter than Hatton. Hatton would get absolutely pulverized by Margs. Cotto's level of opposition is excellent, Hatton fought C, D and F level fighters for 38 fights before taking out an old Tszyu. He had an alright run after that but got his ass starched by Floyd and then blasted out by Pac.

I can't excuse floyd at 147 lbs, but cotto ducked floyd at 140 lbs.

the vargas fights were wars. shane didn't KO collazo. they thought they caught mosley at a good time.

c'mon man... cotto had no business losing to margo. most (not all) ricans were so stunned they stopped posting and went into hiding. some thought margo was using steriods and even today, most (not all) ricans and cotto stans think margo was using plaster.

regardless, cotto should've boxed circles around margo and taken zero damage against a margo, ala mosley.

Well, there are two questions. Who fought the better competition and who beat the better competition.

The first question is more or less a worthless question by itself. Losing to opposition, generally, doesn't improve your standing. Because, as of yet, Cotto hasn't fought Pac/Mayweather there's no point in bringing them up because there is no way that he could do worse that what Hatton did against them.

Tszyu hadn't fought in 2 years before that Mitchell fight. And that fight was a gimme less than 3 rounder against a fighter who he had defeated before and was scared to death of him. Not exactly the best way to take ring rust off. Plus he was pretty old for his weight class.
