Coming back to Ali vs Liston 1. I think a few forget that it was actually Liston who psyched Ali/Clay first. It is dramatised in the film 'The Greatest' but I gather that the event in the casino where Liston pulled a gun on Clay and started firing blanks (which sent young Cassius running for his life) was actually true.

Clearly the brash youngster was hell bent on revenge. Not only did he get it psychologically......he also got the result he wanted too.

Not that I'm aware of. I gather that Liston shot himself with a blank to reassure onlookers that it was all in good humour. The dramatisation may well be on You Tube. The film is called 'The Greatest'.

Steve Collins against Chris Eubank.

Probably the best example ever............I'm furious that this one slipped my mind.

Eubank was undefeated and clearly in his prime. In his previous fight he had been terrific in outpointing Henry Wharton.

Steve Collins, after hearing that Michael Watson was hypnotised before his second fight with Eubank turned up at the press conference for the fight all wide eyed with his hypnotist Dr Quinn.

Eubank was clearly spooked because Collins had him believing that he wouldn't be feeling pain, fatigue etc.

To top it off Collins came to the ring plugged in to earphones, apparently in a trance.

Only after the fight did Collins admit that he was actually listening to the Rocky soundtrack............genius!!!
