The EBU have ordered a mandatory welterweight fight, for the EU [European Union] championship, between Polish veteran Rafal Jackiewicz (42-10-1, 21 KOs) and undefeated British boxer Frankie Gavin (13-0, 10 KOs). The promoters for both parties, Andrzej Wasilewski and Frank Warren, have until August 28th to advise the EBU of a date and venue.

Good bout for Gavin. Hope he turns up. Jackiewicz very tough, got taken apart by Kell Brook but been a decent late bloomer apart from that.

Another Micky Mouse made up title. FG would be better off chasing the English or British title.

Half agree with you Mick. Fights against Witter, Vassell or Purdy all decent tests but Jackiewicz is a known & respected fighter - probably more than any of the above three at this moment in time (Witter's recent run hardly glorious). A fight with Jackiewicz a good test.

Jackiewicz is just the right opponent Gavin needs. He'll provide Gavin with the chance to go some rounds and make him work, barring a poor stoppage. I'm not too sold on Gavin power wise and this is a good step up for him.

I think he wins but there might be a few rocky moments.
