I do feel like had Floyd put his foot on the gas even more at the end of the Mosley fight, he may have stopped him. He sort of seemed to let up after Shane seemed to have nothing left. I was hoping he'd try to stop him, but he didn't really.

I don't see him stopping Cotto, but who knows???

By Dan Ambrose: On May 5th, WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is taking his first real fight since his beat down against Manny Pacquiao in 2009 when he faces undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cotto has been matched ever so carefully by his former promoter Bob Arum, put in with old or somehow physically hobbled opposition in the last couple of years. But on May 5th, Cotto is fighting a world class opponent that’s not 100 years old or coming into the fight with an injury, and I just don’t see how this is going to go well for Cotto.

When you go from soft touches to the real thing, it generally results in really bad things happening for a fighter. If I was to predict what will happen in the Mayweather-Cotto fight, I’d have to say that Cotto will be in way over his head, and will take a bloody pounding in this fight. But I’m really hoping he doesn’t drop to his knees and get counted out in that manner. I’d rather see Cotto going out on his shield in a stoppage where he’s either on his back staring at the lights or face first on the canvas instead of on his knees.

Cotto has been stopped twice in his career – once by Antonio Margarito where Cotto was on his knees, and the other time against Pacquiao in a fight in which Cotto was stopped while still standing. I think Cotto would have gone down in the Pacquiao fight if the referee hadn’t jumped in to stop the action before Pacquiao could finish him off. But I just would rather see Cotto getting it the time tested manner by being put on his back or face rather than ending it on his knees. I don’t know but maybe it’s just me but I can’t get into seeing a fighter lose like that. I don’t see Cotto making it the full 12 round in this fight, and that’s why I hope he gets blasted out in the traditional manner. weather/[/url][/B]
