George Foreman is a prime example of a guy who took a lot of punishment but never had any symptoms or slurs, the guy is quick witted and speaks clear and he was taking beatings and flush power shots in almost all of his fights.

Terry Norris sparred almost 5 days a week in between fights. Same as James Toney and even Pernell Whitaker, Pernell would party and than spar after he was hungover, the drugs made him worse.

But these Slick boxers seem to suffer from damage in sparring, not in the fights, for some reason Slick boxers will take or allow themselves to get hit in the head in sparring maybe they think it will conditioning themselves for a fight?

But sparring hard while cutting weight is very bad for the brain.

I think demographically, more black boxers practice the sweet science in america and speak english, so logic would say more slurring would be noticable by the demographic that dominates american Boxing.
Great point. Availability bias in action.

jermain taylor isnt punch drunk at all. hes stuttering, not slurring. something he did all his life. look at some early interviews and you will see hes speaking exactly the same way.

same thing applies to hearns just a bit, not saying he isnt a bit punchy. but he always had a slurred speech, its just the way he always talked. even when he was barely 20 it was hard to understand him, boxing just made it slightly worse.
