When Ellerbe made that quote about Canelo having a lot of weaknesses and that Team Floyd is well aware of them, he also said that is why he was so confident that Floyd would win easily and that is why Ellerbe approved that fight!

So if Canelo was riskier and if there was no CW, that fight was not happening and you know it! Ellerbe would NOT approve that fight!
Lets get things in perspective .

The question Roach was asked " Why did you chose Rios "

Now what was Ellerbe asked ?

He was unbeaten and in his prime , after that loss he was a mental case with a growing coke addiction and was looking ordinary and nearly beat on return by a stiff and then Pauli , the old Hatton would maul Pauli it was just a show horn to sell him with Manny .

And even to this day Ricky says straight up that Floyd is the better fighter , every common opponent all say Floyd wins .
Hatton admitted that he was KING at 140 not against WWs. This is so so easy to get. Why are you not getting it?

RIOS IS B GRADE AND WAS SPECIFICALLY CHOSEN TO BE A BAG , at least Manny could have picked a B grade Winner , it was bad enough not even fighting a WW , but come on why pay Alvarado to keep quite about why he wasnt chosen but the guy he beat was .
hey stupid...What part of Manny coming off a KO loss dont you understand? They are putting him in as tough as they come for a KO loss that he suffered in his last bout and long layoff. When you start watching boxing....on your join date?

        • This is the type of delusion that blind adoration and/or hate brings with it.

Blown up lightweight? Rios was a lightweight champion you moron. He is a blown up lightweight too, as was Floyd.

The biggest difference though? Guerrero was coming off two wins at 147 over two welterweight champions.

Rios is coming off a loss at 140, has never even fought at 147, and is also a blown up lightweight that has spent 8 years at 135 and only has one win at 140 and that's against a guy he just lost to.

To summarise: Guerrero was the number 1 contender at 147, with two wins over two welterweight champions and hadnt lost a single fight in 8 years.

Rios is unranked at 147 because he's never even fought there. He is also moving up a division whilst coming off a loss against a relatively unskilled fighter at 140. He's only ever had two fights above 135, the most recent being a loss, and had spent 8 years before that as a lightweight so he is the one who is well and truly the blown up lightweight here.

Guerrero is shorter, blown up lightweight who looked Flabby at 147, 1 loss, 1 draw and 2 no contests.....

Yet all the Floyd fans are quickly scurrying about claiming that if Pac doesn't KTFO Rios before 7 rounds he is a bum who should retire

So why wasn't Floyd being held to the same standards when he fought a blown up lightweight who had 2 wins against 2 bums at 147? Don't even bring up the weight thing Robert and Brandon most probably rehydrate to the same weight and with a strength and conditioning coach he'll probably have more functional mass than Guerrero had at 147..

Rios is unorthodox, taller, great chin, non stop tenacity, never gets discouraged when he's getting beat up like Guerrero, and hits harder.

Looks like the Floyd fans are lining up yet more reasons to discredit Manny if he manages to win this tough fight
The difference is that Guerrerro wasn''t a comeback fight because Mayweather didn't get KTFO in his prior fight. Rios has had two fights at 140 with a B-level fighter. He lost one of those fights. That is why fans (not just Floyd fans) are critical of Pacquaio fighting him when he could have fought Garcia, Matthysse, Alexander, Guerrerro or a number of other guys who are much better caliber fighters.

A couple of times before Manny, but the worst part was that he went from having a good chin before Floyd to being shaken and nearly knocked out by Juan Lazcano at 140 before fighting Manny. That was the biggest sign of his slippage and that he was ruined.

LMAOOOO oh here we go again

First the coke addiction myth - That was AFTER the Pacquiao fight, prove otherwise...

And LMFAO he TKO'd Paulie WTF are you talking about? Desperation to discredit that awesome win.

Lastly Floyd and Hatton were a similar fight night weight....as were Pac and Hatton.... the point still stands Pac completely defined the word steamrolled against Hatton where Hatton won rounds and did better than other Floyd opponents...

As a matter of fact Hatton did better than Marquez against Floyd so there goes your triangle theory BS

Manny got put to sleep and is being put with a guy who comes to fight. What's more is that Rios will not be looking like a skeleton in this fight. He will NOT be drained, which used to be a big concern of your before you know who CWed Canelo.

So this is not an easy fight for Manny for the above reasons (Questions on Manny) and that is why this fight is much more difficult a fight for Manny to have to take than he should have considering what happened in his previous fights. If Manny had beat Marquez, I would be on your side BUT Manny was put to sleep and now is coming in against a guy who loves to fight. It will all depend on which Manny shows up .... so you are NOT getting it!

Floyd on the other hand should be fighting the best not someone where Ellerbe says and confirmed by Floyd's team, "The reason I approved this fight is because I know that Floyd's opponent has many weaknesses and little chance of winning and my Floyd will school that inexperienced, low work-rate, no stamina fighter"
