  • Comments Thread For: Freddie Roach Discusses Vanes, Pacquiao, Chavez Jr.

Junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (32-0-1, 20 KO’s) didn’t get what he wanted last night with his bout against Erislandy Lara (17-2-1, 11 KO’s).

Facing off with the Cuban southpaw inside of the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas, Martirosyan and Lara fought to a technical draw after the fight went to the scorecards shortly into the ninth round due to a severe cut above Vanes’ left eye that was caused by a head butt.

downward spiral from here on. Roach is rich, he should retire already as an ATG and HOF trainer

At the very least, Vanes stopped Roach's losing streak like he said he wanted to...

Chavez Jr comes across as very spoilt, disrespectful and immature. His Dad is an ATG, a living legend, he should be soaking up every bit of advice he can. The stuff his dad was saying made sense... I can't believe how poorly Jr prepared himself for the biggest fight of his life. What a tool. It would have been a complete injustice if he'd taken Sergio out with a lucky punch in the 12th.

More punches from Vanes might only tire him sooner, accuracy would help more. Had he landed more while he was being aggressive, maybe Lara would have also faded. As it was, Vanes blew a lot of energy early chasing Lara, but missing him a lot. Vanes still made the fight, even though he missed plenty, and was looking to engage while Lara stunk and pot shot. Lara better change his style or he's going to keep having these close fights and his lack of aggression will keep counting against him. He may dress like a Mexican, but he doesn't fight like one.

Just take a good look at the bimbo that he calls a girlfriend..a fool is easily separated from his money and his family..it's not the first time we see this from the offspring of stars in the entertainment world. When you have a massive ego, a chick who fans you and whispers how great you are and turns around with the "It's not your fault JR, you are great it's the people around you holding you back" that you end up with this situation. Look at Floyd and his pops..Roger never misses a shot to diss SR...why? Money...

Not good for Roach, but even the greats have their lows (as long as they don't duck). Maybe the December results will shut some mouths.
