Think about it. A guy that uses his head intentionally uses it by itself. Clottey only ever clashes heads when he throws a right hand. He doesn't charge in with his head and doesn't butt people in the clinches.

You need to watch that fight from the start too because Baldomir was so much worse than Clottey in terms of DQ'd. He was the one holding throughout the whole fight. The ref warns him for it constantly at the start and then just stops whereas he warns Clottey twice and then disqualifies him straight away?

Anyway, the point is that you have to understand why any headbutt occurs. Is it intentional or unintentional? Clottey pulls his chin in and sticks his head down by his right arm when he throws his right hand. I was taught to do this as well as a sneaky little defensive thing. It's nearly impossible to counter any way and even if you do get hit your chin is tucked away and you're just likely to get hit on the top of the head where it will either slide off or not do anything. It's very smart. Hopkins does exactly the same move every time he throws a right hand.

The other big problem is the way Baldo defends. He just drops his head, look at the end, with his hands wide and kept grabbing Clottey behind the neck. Where is your head going to go if you get grabbed behind the neck and pulled in and down?

For that wanker saying it happened in the Cotto fight, go watch it first you little prat. That was just as much Cotto's fault. They both came together like happens in a million fights.
