With demographic shift happening, the GOP has to change or go the way of the Dinosaurs. USA may become like Japan - a dominant party democracy. That is one where free and fair elections are held, but one party wins nearly all the time.

it's a lot easier to manage something like that when times are good.

we'll see what things look like in four years. so long as the country is in sound economic standing, and the social issues are at least worked with by both sides, then i don't care who is in charge.

Thing is that America is becoming more 'brown' as number of Hispanics, Asians and Blacks increase. By 2042, America will cease having a "white majority". Thus parties that appear to be hostile to brown folk will suffer more and more.
