yeah but usually there is actually some sort of real circumstantial evidence behind the accusation. testimonial accusations can be credible depending on the source, etc. like the accusations against lance armstrong carry more credence than that "random pinoy sparring partner" who accused of seeing manny do steroids. and andre berto's "mysterious members of team ortiz" he talked with.

evander holyfield infamous nom de guerre "evan fields"

shane mosley being connected to balco.

    etc, etc. . .

usually where there is smoke there is fire. but in the case of manny, hopkins, and ortiz, there is no smoke. there never was any smoke. the only "smoke signals" were CREATED by people who stood to gain from them being on steroids. it gives people excuses. gives mayweather an excuse not to fight manny. gives pascal an excuse. gives berto an excuse. . .

"It's rare that boxing is at the center of discussions of sports and steroids, but these developments come at a time when there is growing evidence that the reach of performance-enhancing substances extends between the ropes, and perhaps increasingly so. "

This was from 2007, and you can't blame anyone looking at Pacquiao's sudden increase of speed, power, and the lean muscle mass he put on in a short amount of time as a red flag. Now, take the article above and it doesn't seem so outrageous for Floyd to want better testing. I think people are so infatuated with Pacquiao's fighting style, that it starts to subvert their judgement.

It all depends upon who's doing the accusing. In this case, it's the Mayweathers and a) they have a vested interest and b) no reason to be suspicious other than a certain fighter is doing well.

Pacquiao could have shut all of this down going on two years ago by taking the test, and taking his 50/50 purse split. He may retire and never take the test, and in years to come when the testing is the standard in all professional sports, most objective sports fans who follow boxing won't forget it and that is what will damage his legacy the most...

                The refusal, not the request.

Pac already said he'd take the tests and then Floyd went on vacation.... why are we still talking about this? Floyd has all the excuses in the book; taking tests, not thinking about boxing, poking security guards in the face, beating women, vacation time, turning down 100 million dollars....

Pac said he will take the tests, it's a null point to keep bringing it up.

If Pac's team was really serious about it, then we would've had the fight already. Bob is making sure he gets the most out of Pac before even considering it.

As I recall, Pac also had a million in one excuses as to why he does not want to drug test.
