  • Some photos from my trip to Kamaishi in North East Japan (Tsunami disastor area)

I took a trip to Kamaishi a couple months ago with a group of Japanese. The area was hit hard and devastated by the Tsunami of 2011. A lot of damage is still there, and who knows when and how it will eventually be cleaned up. This is probably the case with a lot of the cities and towns hit hard by the tsunami.

Cool pics, I remember staying up basically pulling an all nighter the day it happened. Those live videos of the Tsunami coming in were devastating.

With respect to the aftermath of the Tsunami, this is one of the best videos I've seen. On the ground footage, filmed by former MMA fighter Enson Inoue.

What did that place look like before the tsunami?

A lot nicer than it does today.

It was actually a steel manufacturing and fishing city.

They still make steel, but the place is almost like a ghost town in a way.

You drive around, and no one is on the streets. The place is really messed up now.
