  • Would someone like to explain THIS marquez fight to me?

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...7290&cat=boxer

Why is Marquez defending his WBO title against a BUM lightweight who was ko'd two fights ago?

I know Marquez is a legend but this is inexcusable.

Looks like it's just a stay busy/tune up fight.

it may be a lesser opponent but to call him a bum because of one ko loss is not valid.

you must remember that these fighters are indeed human and lining up the best competition possible time after time after time will only damage the longevity of any fighter. There are only so many wars that a fighter can compete in before those wars begin to take their tolls on the fighter. A tune up, a keep busy fight, a cake walk, call it what you'd like. Every fighter, especially at the world class level needs fights like this between their wars to keep on top and to sustain their mental and physical capacities.............Rockin'

Giving Marquez a pass for this is BS

if it was a fighter you didn't LIKE you'd jump all over it.

I like Marquez but this is tripe, if he wants to fight this guy he should drop that paper belt he just got handed.

bro, don't you think you're being a tad unreasonable?

              since 2007.

              Serhiy Fedchenko
              Manny Pacquiao
              Likar Ramos
              Michael Katsidis
              Juan Diaz
              Floyd Mayweather Jr
              Juan Diaz
              Joel Casamayor
              Manny Pacquiao
              Rocky Juarez
              Marco Antonio Barrera

not bad for a man who was thought to be shot years ago. not to mention that career featherweights almost NEVER fight at an elite level this late in life.

that is a list of the best competition possible in the division for the last 5 years. Few resumes will be so toughly matched up like that. I agree with Timmy here, the man desrves a break...........Rockin'

The reason that I used 2007 as the cut off is to illustrate that he fought and beat most of those men after the age of 34. He's a legit bad ass who is trying to stay busy in prep for a bigger fight that will inevitably be coming up soon.

Criticizing the guy for this is just Earl being cranky. lol
