BoxingScene.com has been advised that WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares (25-0-1, 13KOs) is vacating his title and moving up in weight to the featherweight division. I think he's too small for 126lbs, I could be wrong.

While it seems to stupid to move up to 126 without fighting a 122 pounder first, there really aren't any names left to fight at 122. 126 is relatively loaded in comparison.

Tune up at Featherweight first probably. Then maybe the winner of Ponce vs Velez. Maybe if Golden Boy is willing to work with 50 Mares could even fight Dib.

This move is too soon. Wouldn't mind him seeing fight Jhonny Gonzalez as his first fight there though. That'd be a good match up
