  • Comments Thread For: Klitschko-Thompson Purse Bid: 85% Split For Wladimir

Per the request of promoter Dan Goossen, who handles heavyweight Tony Thompson (36-2, 24KOs), the IBF has scheduled a purse bid for the mandatory fight with IBF/WBA/IBO/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50KOs). The purse bid will take place on March 27th at 12 Noon, at the IBF's offices in Springfield, New Jersey. Under Rule 10.E, Klitschko’s camp requested a change in the purse bid split. The majority of the IBF's board of directors voted for an 85% split for Klitschko, with the remaining 15% going to Thompson.

Thompson's at an age that means he's probably deteriorated since their first fight, whereas Wlad keeps getting better. This doesn't go past the 8th this time.

Probably will still be a pretty good payday for getting knocked out again. Don't Klitschko fights usually get around 10 mil for purses?

Based on his performance in the last fight Thompson deserves 1% of the purse or enough to cover an economy class ticket home.

15% of a 10+ million fight is pretty good.

Shows how bad Klitschko's competition is when he gave one of the better accounts of Wlad's opponents.
