IBF featherweight boxing world champion Billy Dib emerged with wounds after battling his way to a deserved unanimous points win over tough Mexican Juan Antonio Rodriguez in a super featherweight non-title bout.
Watched by NSW premier Barry O'Farrell, Dib (35-1, 21 KOs) finished the 10-round contest in the Sydney suburb of Campsie marked around both eyes following some head clashes.
Rodriguez (21-4, 19 KO) tagged the Sydney fighter with some good shots in a desperate final round onslaught, but the Australian won the judges' favor by scores of 97-94, 98-92, 99-92.
