  • Cotto-Margarito: You're the HEAD TRAINER

Whether you're rooting for Cotto or rooting for Margarito, base that choice and state the game plan you'd tell your boxer to execute in order to walk out victorious on Dec. 3rd.

please keep the flames out, it gets tiresome, just a hypothetical thread on how you view styles and what would be effective in your opinion.

Margarito: Do what you always do. Work that jab and attack.

Cotto: Use the jab almost exclusively early in the fight. Pace yourself and use the early rounds to feel out the fight.

Midway through throw in some more combos to the body and look for the left-hook upstairs.

    Stay off the ropes.

For Margarito same fight plan same game, his defense in that fight is highly over looked and under rated.

For Cotto he has to make the adjustments to win, he has the right idea though run your shots off and get out of the way, but this time he can not slide out or slide back.

When Cotto runs his shots off he has to stay there, turn margarito, step around him, and the key here is as soon as he resets he must start punching before Margarito gets set, this was done nice in the Mosley Margarito fight, in which shane was able to take advantage of Tonys poor footwork.

He needs to be set to get going so if you keep him turning he will not get off any of those hard shots. But if he is able to make Cotto move back and make Cotto jump on that Bike again its all over thats the wrong style to beat Margartio

I'd have Cotto jab jab jab, and make it stay in the center by using lateral movement. as soon as his back touches the ropes, clinch! or step over and out and get back to the center and keep jabbing.

Occasionally in the first 4 rounds I'd have him throw powerful combinations to the body, to take his legs away slowly, and from the middle rounds and on, start doubling hooks to the body and head to start damaging the eye, and to continue taking the legs out.

Cotto needs some head movement and not close up and embrace the uppercuts or powershots. but mainly he needs to move around, to his right mostly and the jab will be the winning factor for him.

          Cotto:

Apply the hit n' clinch tactic for about the first 4 rounds to conserve energy.

Use the straight punches more, body and head.

Don't lean in so much(he ate alot of uppercuts partly because of this flaw in his stance)

          Footwork, footwork.

          'Rita:

Snap the jab out, instead of just laying it out there when it's at full extension.

Protect that eye moreso than last time.

Do a better job of cutting off the ring.

If I was Cotto's trainer I would get him to fight at a slower pace than the first time around, do everything the same, except just a little slower and this time after landing combinations CLINCH!

Margarito landed multiple low blows last time, this time instead of complaining, pay him back!
