  • Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Froch vs. Cleverly - It’s a No Brainer!

Carl Froch defends his IBF super-middleweight title this evening at the Capital FM Arena in his home city of Nottingham against American Yusaf Mack.

Mack, a second tier fighter, hasn’t weighed inside the 12 stone, super-middle ‘cut-off’ for over five years.

People are continually banging on about the series of tough back-to-back fights that Froch has had. But that’s what he signed up for when he entered Showtime’s Super Six tournament and he was remunerated accordingly.

Has his opposition really been that great? Jermain Taylor and Arthur Abraham were essentially ‘long-in-the-tooth’ middleweights yet the former came to within 14 seconds of defeating Froch.

Andre Dirrell was unlucky to lose by the judges in Froch’s home city in October 2009. Glencoffe Johnson, though still a fine fighter, was already 42 and dipping, when Froch nudged home on a majority decision. [Click Here To Read More]

First off.. F off Warren !!! where do you get the bottle to degrade any of Froch's victories, whether he has struggled with opponents or beaten them easily, he has taken on all comers and hasn't been over protected like all of Warren's signed fighters, there are ways of making fights but degrading Froch who has done nothing but enhance his reputation as a true warrior and has earned respect, even from cretins like Warren

Warren really does talk a lot of nonsense. He belittles Froch for "nudging home on a majority decision" against Johnson - when everyone knows the fight was disproportionately close on the judges scorecards and Carl won handily - yet doesn't make mention of the fact that Cleverly squeaked by Tony Bellew in his last meaningful fight!

Secondly, Cleverly didn't make any "big splash" across the pond. He fought low down on the bill, before a near-silent, half-empty crowd, against a guy who lost his last fight and whom very few boxing fans had heard of prior to the contest! Haha! Pull the other one.

Warren is clearly displeased that Froch has trampled all over Calzaghe's half-baked legacy by running the gauntlet these last few years. Calzaghe spent his best years feasting on cherry-picked opponents in his backyard. Froch has spent his best years taking on all comers, not just at home but in Denmark, Finland and the US.

Also don't see how Abraham could be classed as "long in the tooth" - he was one fight removed from the biggest and best win of his career when Froch took him to school.

Frank should stop trying to buy cheap publicity for his no-mark champ Cleverly by taking shots at Froch, who has fought far, FAR better opposition than Cleverly. Nathan isn't fit to carry Carl's gym bag at this point in his career. Besides, Frank, Froch is a super-middleweight and Nathan's a light-heavy. Not only is it embarrassing to call out a fighter in a lower weight division, but Cleverly hasn't once said he'd move down in weight to make the fight. Clearly Froch is happy to stay at his natural fighting weight of 168lbs.

Clev vs Bellew is a no brainer!!

Froch is a small 168. He could sweat down to 160 if he wanted to. But 168 is his optimum as he's not drained

Warren being a ****, nothing new there.

It seems he's ready to cash out on Clev who really needs to get a different promoter and trainer if he wants to reach his full potential.

It makes me cringe how Warren is trying to make Cleverly's name off Froch.

And WTF is he lining up Hopkins for? The fcking guy is going to be what, 49 in January?! What does a win over Hopkins do for Clev? I know Hopkins is a living legend, but come on, everyone knows he's old as fck and has looked terrible in his last few fights.

This guy only makes himself look bad with this nonsense. The only people who are going to be persuaded by such shite are those who don't really follow the sport.

He knows the fight won't happen so is just plugging Carl Froch's name along with his champion.

Translation: "I need to make some big money before Cleverly ditches me for Golden Boy"

How the hell can someone crap over Froch's resume and then talk up Nathen Cleverly?

                    Glen Johnson>>> Tony Bellew.
