  • Comments Thread For: Hasim Rahman’s Trainer Talks: “This is His Last Hurrah”

Hasim Rahman has fought five fights with Eddie Mustafa Muhammad in his corner, scoring five knockouts. And though the level of opposition hasn’t been stellar – the five opponents had a combined record of 128-65-2 – Muhammad is optimistic about where these fights have brought Rahman and a bout with heavyweight titleholder Alexander Povetkin could come soon.

Whats interesting about it?? That we've heard this same song and dance before?? We heard it when he had Roger Mayweather as a trainer, we heard it when he had Thell Torrence as a trainer. There are other trainers who's names I can't remember but it's the same ol song and dance.

Then when he loses, it'll be yet another excuse and another trainer switch.

Yeah, because there's never been older fighters like Rahman hanging around looking for one more big payday before in the history of the division.

When those older fighters suck, but are still considered #1 in the rankings, that tells you there's a problem.

This is probably the worst the division has ever been.

His last Hurrah is buried in some grave with cobwebs on the marker. He is way past the point of washed up.

Apples and oranges. Everyone knows Rahman isn't a number one contender in any division based in reality. Hell, Monte Barrett should be way ahead of Rahman based on his performances against Tua. The rankings are corrupted, yes. There's loads of better heavyweights out there than Hasim Rahman. So that's more of a comment on the boxing orgs and their corrupted state than it is on the division itself. Older heavyweights looking for one more big payday is nothing new at all.

Oh no, it's a comment on the division itself.

If there were any heavyweights worth a damn there is no way someone like Rahman could sneak into a #1 ranking.
