Surely the series is gonna end by the end of season 5 otherwise who else can catch Walter other than Hank?

They did that because this is the last season, and for budget reasons AMC gave them a choice between splitting the season into two smaller halves or one long 16 episode season. They chose the two smaller seasons.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened, maybe I'm wrong on something there.
