  • Why is pre-gangsta Hip-Pop frowned upon?

They made fun catchy songs profanity-free and sold millions of albums.

    Baby got Back
    Ice Ice Baby
    Kris Kross
    Fresh Prince
    Marky Mark
    etc

Major labels don't want to put that "crap" out.

I rarely listen to the radio nowadays, but I tuned into my local hip hop station and well wanna know the first lyrics I heard?

"I wanna put this d--k(censored) all up inside you."

Gansta rap was around before all that.

Well mainly because they're awful in comparison to say Kool Moe Dee or Kurtis Blow of that time. And i'm pretty sure Gangsta rap was already a thing.

Fresh Prince also isn't really frowned up, his later ghost written comeback however...

EDIT: Biz Markie was also a goofball but he was respected for his ability on the mic. (yes, he was actually an alright MC)
