Ohio Grand Jury Clears Police In John Crawford Death

Earlier today, an Ohio grand jury decided not to charge two police officers in the killing of John Crawford in a Walmart in August. Crawford, a black man, was holding a toy gun designed to look like an assault rifle.

Now, surveillance video from the Walmart has been released to the public. Because there's little sound, it makes it hard to tell when and how often the police shot Crawford. But the footage shows definitively that Crawford wasn't brandishing the toy gun when he was shot — and that he dropped it, ran, and came back before he died. The video, which tracks Crawford as he made his way through the store doesn't show any of the behavior described in the 911 call that sent cops to the scene.

The 911 call, placed by a man named Ronald Ritchie, said that Crawford was "pointing it at pf his body is hidden from view).

Damn, dumb, just dumb. Did look like he was running to and reaching for the gun, dont know when the shots where fired but hard to blame the cops IMO.

Certainly doesnt deserve to die but he needed to be more cognizant of his actions. Walking around the store with that gun, clearly, was a bad idea

I just checked and Ohio is an open carry friendly state... I guess it doesn't count when you're minority...

That doesn't mean people can carry them on private property if the property owner doesn't allow it. I live in Texas, and you do see signs at certain businesses that say guns are not allowed inside the business.

Idk when I saw el blancos response it just reminded me of a news program I was watching. It showed a group of 5-6 white guys walking into ihop and autozone with semi-auto rifles claiming the 2nd amendment... I forgot which state it was but it was also open carry... Ihop has since changed its policies but I can only imagine what would happen if that was 5-6 black guys walking into a store... But it's like its okay for a group of white guys to walk around with guns cuz they're perceived as safe, but a black kid with a toy gun... Nah we have to kill him...
