  • Where Does Camacho Rank In The All Time Puerto Rican List

Where does he rank in the top 10?

  • #2
I place Macho mid to bottom of the list but I'm sure it can be debated. My opinion and I'll respect any list just as long as he is in it.

    1. Wilfredo Gomez
    2. Wilfredo benitez
    3. Carlos Ortiz
    4. Tito Trinidad

Next 5 debatable IMO between (Cotto, Camacho, Rosario, Torres, De jesus)

a few others such as Serrano, Escalera, De leon, Vazquez, Escobar, Molina can be thrown into the mix as well. This will be a debate for sure.

I agree with the top 4 and place Cotto at #5 and Camacho #6

      1. Wilfredo Gomez
      2. Wilfred Benitez
      3. Carlos Ortiz
      4. Felix Trinidad
      5. Miguel Cotto
      6. Hector Camacho
      7. Edwin Rosario
      8. Esteban De Jesus
      9. Jose Torres
      10. Wilfredo Vazquez

Btw you could throw Calderon in to the late top 10 or very close to it.

How is Cotto better than Camacho? How WV is better than Calderon?

yes. I forgot about him. I just find it harder to rank the rest of the bunch outside those top 4 and TBH, its hard for me to put Cotto over Camacho. That 5-10 slots always seem to be moving around for me. I guess its change of opinion every time I try doing a list. I think I need to see Cotto get another big win or a 4th division title to consider putting him at #5. Maybe Sergio at 160 (no catchweight) will cement that #5 spot.

This is why I told TS that 5-10 could easily be a debate (not saying that #1-#4 are cemented either). I've made this list maybe 3 or 4 times and I dont think i've ever put Camacho behind Cotto. I usually tend to place at 5-7 Torres, Camacho, Dejesus but I know Cotto always comes to mind. Alot of times when making a list like this, we tend to lean on who "we" like and those that are still active are hard to rank as their careers are yet to be complete.

me love me Miguel Cotto but I wouldn't put him before Camacho, I have Macho next to Felix Trinidad.

Mid-level for sure. Not as great as the big 4 Ortiz, Gomez, Benitez, Tito= but as capable as Cotto, DeJesus. It's a steep drop off after the big 4 IMO.

Camacho's chin was the best in Puerto Rico history.

                    6)Hector Camacho
                    7)Ivan Calderon
                    8)Jose Torres
                    9)Wilfredo Vasquez Sr.
                    10)Esteban De Jesus

My Top 10 list. Also reason I have Cotto ahead of Macho is because his losses against the elite werent as one sided as Camacho's. Sure Camacho was talented, but he didnt like getting hit which ended with him getting outworked in the end by guys like Chavez, De La Hoya, and Trinidad.

I could out Camacho ahead of Cotto though, until Cotto's career ends.
