  • Comments Thread For: Frank Warren on Mayweather-Canelo, Jabs Burns Calll

The cynics who constantly gripe that the sport of boxing is 'dying' might care to yet again scan the numbers being generated by the fabulous light-middleweight showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez that takes place in Las Vegas this evening.

Forget Gareth Bales transfer fee - Forbes.com predict that the gross revenue for the event will far exceed $200million, shattering all records. All 16,200 tickets at the MGM Grand arena – priced from $350-$2000 – were snapped up within hours of release, generating live gate receipts of $20million. Seven blue chip sponsors have coughed up to $2million each in right's fees.

More bitterness from Frank "Subscribe to BoxNation" Warren. If Burns was still under his banner, he'd be focusing on the bravery and singing Burns' praises. Now, at every opportunity, he just looks to put the boot in. A seriously pathetic man. Would hardly call Burns' performance against the very well skilled Gonzalez "shocking" either.

The kicker was at the end where he said Burns spurned a fight with Vasquez when Vasquez recently came out and said he didn't do the fight because he made a "business decision".

Beltran, though a solid, time-served pro, is certainly no world beater and Burns circa 2012-13 would have won

I'm guessing he meant circa 2011-2012 - in which case he'd still be wrong.

He enters with every conceivable physical advantage over Mayweather
HUUUUUH???? Speed and footwork are physical advantages are they not? Canelo has better hands and feet than FMJ?

            ..supplemented by boundless youthfull energy..
Youthful energy! That ol' gas bag can't even fight a full 12 rounds without taking 5 of em off!

I dunno why Burns gets crap for the Gonzalez fight. Sure Burns looked stupid, but he's not the first or last or worst fighter to be so, and its not like Gonzalez was robbed, Gonzalez quit.

"Bookmakers Paddy Power even paid out on all Beltran bets!"

That says it all right there. Cool gesture on their part.
