Yeah he did say he wanted both to sign for him to fight. I don't know if he meant to fight on May 4th specifically or if he would fight Trout on another date as the main feature.

We'll see what happens because giving out guarantees is not how Floyd operates.

That's my point. If ginger/Josesito can sell on it's own, how much more would ginger/Trout sell. Considering ginger was looking to fight the winner of that fight anyway. That's main event stuff right there.

Plus he entered training camp already. Why??? It's around 2 months of training for fights correct?? May isn't 2 months away.

That would seriously cut into their earnings. If anything this isn't a good look for Canelo, I don't think he's too confident in himself. I don't understand why he can't just fight Trout on the undercard in May and then worry about getting a fight with Floyd in September, WHY does he need a damn guarantee if he can headline PPV's on his own?!? It's not for the money cause I'm sure he's racking it in right now.

Perhaps he needs to believe GBP will protect his @ss and rob Trout if a Mayweather fight is on the line.

Trout got Haymon in his corner. I doubt GBP will do anything to **** that relationship up. Haymon has Mayweather, Broner, Santa Cruz, Figueroa, Russell Jr. and a lot of other young up and coming starts in the sport.

Al really has some amazing leverage if he can force Canelo into a fight with one of his dangerous upcomers.

Its a good business move by Canelo, period. Whether he deserves a Floyd fight or not is not the issue. Guerrero/Floyd alone is not enough to bring in big PPV numbers, especially if Dana White decides to have another free UFC event on Fox the same night, as rumors are suggesting. Worthy or not, Canelo is very popular with the mexican fanbase.
If he didn't have any pull or leverage Golden Boy and Floyd would have already told him to go F himself and announced Floyds fight already. The fact that they are letting this hold up an announcement shows that Golden Boy is taking this seriously.

People will be curious to see Floyd's first performance coming out of jail imo

Let's see how good of a move it is after he's on Showtime vs another JWW and then doesn't get Mayweather in September.

Well, if that's the case at least he knows now that he will not get a Floyd fight vs. being strung along. If he doesn't get his guarantee, then he bows out of being on the undercard May 4th and gets his own date. Most likely gets a bigger payday for headlining his own event. Its a no lose for Canelo, right now doesn't have a Floyd fight sewn up and Floyd is very fickle, who cares if Ellerbe says he is fighting again in September he could easily back out of that and Golden Boy still has the date.

When was the last time Mayweather fought twice in a year? He didn't do when he was younger you think he's gonna do it now?
