  • Comments Thread For: Juanma Waiting For Opponent, Salido Waits For Date

BoxingScene.com has been advised that WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-1, 27KOs) is still waiting for a finalized opponent for his scheduled return on October 1 at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. There have been discussions to secure Mike Oliver, but his management is not happy with the money being offered - which I've heard is actually higher than what Oliver would have received for a previous deal to face Orlando Salido in July [Oliver withdrew]. Alternative options are being explored - if Oliver's side doesn't budge on the purse.

The reward for beating this sorry **** aint the same anymore, so fighters that are either already on top, or are on their way to the top aint gonna look in his direction. He's fucked. Lol.

He is still a decent payday maybe, but he aint gonna get big money for any of his fights, because his stock has dropped after losing to a double digit loss face first brawler. Lol. You don't see Garcia, John, or Gamboa looking calling him out or trying to get a fight with him. Look at it like that.

Juan Ma was once such a promising prospect, power in both hands and the support of his countrymen. Its sad to see how far hes fallen and most likely he will never return to the top. He isnt dedicated anymore and his habit of cherry picking opponents failed him when he decided to take on Siri Salido. Salido has been in with alot of top quality opponents and was judged solely on his records more so his double digit losses. Lol Juan Ma finally met someone who wasnt intimidated by him and got his soul broke. Juan Ma will never be a champ at 126 again especially if he continues to stay out of shape as he usually is. He will probably get a paper belt at 130 and possibly unify because the division is weak. Put him in with Adrien Broner and he will get a boxing clinic and look C class guaranteed. Put him in there with some small asians and he will dominate that is the route he is going to take for sure. Juan Ma is a big guy he can fight at 140 if he wanted too he just does what PR BOXING JOTO likes to say Donaire does which is fight people way smaller than him.

If Juan Ma doesnt fight a top 15 fighter id be very disappointed as a fan of boxing in general. He wants to claim his belt again then he should have to earn it like everyone else has to. There are plenty options for him yet its almost September and he still doesnt have an opponent lined up. It makes you wonder the level of opposition they plan on getting on such short notice.
