  • Comments Thread For: WBC Chief: Khan-Garcia Winner Must Vacate One Title

The winner of this Saturday’s junior-welterweight unification bout between Amir Khan and Danny Garcia will have to vacate one of his two world titles, according to World Boxing Council President José Sulaimán.

Khan-Garcia will be for the WBC and WBA belts, though the unification won’t last for long. [Click Here To Read More]

IMO, Khan will give up the WBC belt, no brainer here as the WBC ranking @ '40/'47 much stronger than what comes out of the WBO ones.

what a fcukin joke the wbc is.

if khan wins this fight, id burn that title in the middle of the ring.

doesnt mayweather own a wbc and wba title?!

If the WBC belt is vacated then without a doubt, it'll be a Mexican fighting for it.

"The WBC will only accept the WBC"

Can we make this title illegal already? Please?

Maybe suliman needs the title for ginger's next opponent, who will probably be the wbc jr welterweight diamond title owner.

Lets see the WBC rankings and see what may shake out for their next champ:
                Ajose Olusegun (Nigeria)
Humberto Soto (Mexico) - got KO'ed by Matthysse
                Prawet Singwangcha (Thai) INTL
                Lucas Matthysse (Argentina)
                Erik Morales (Mexico) - Can't make 140
                Roberto Ortiz (Mexico) SILVER
Pablo Cesar Cano (Mexico) - Fighting for a WBA belt in a week
                Dierry Jean (Canada) NABF
                Yoshihiro Kamegai (Japan)
                Denis Shafikov (Russia) EBU
                DeMarcus Corley (US)
                Vicente Mosquera (Panama) LATINO
                Joan Guzman (Dom. R.) FECARBOX
                Ali Chebah (France)
                Antonio Lozada Jr. (Mexico)

Unless Demarco or Vazquez move up in weight, I'm not sure how the WBC will get another Mexican crowned champ at 140.

I bet you if it was Floyd, Manny, Julio or Saul....they wouldn't even utter the words "vacate".

They can only flex their muscles on boxers they know that they can get away this BS on.

Can someone fill me in on the REAL reasons for this? Money must be behind this stupid rule. Money is behind everything else with these scum bags.

Is it something like; if the belts are unified the sanctioning fees aren't as much as they would be if you held 1 belt? So for example:

                    WBC - £10,000 Fee
                    WBC/WBA - £16,000 Fee - £8000 to each?

I dont know, I'm totally guessing, but money must be behind this. I dont buy this "The WBC will only accept the WBC"
