Not every fighter has long term contracts with hbo or Showtime. Cotto fighting on Showtime doesn't mean he won't fight on hbo next etc. Even Pacquiao recently fought on Showtime.
In the 90s everyone had deals with a network, which is horrible for boxing. Over recent years the networks started to buy the FIGHTS, not the fighters, which is what we should all want. Long contracts with guarantees mean Roy Jones fighting a cab driver for millions of dollars. We don't want that again.
