If a boxer and a MMA fighter met on the street and started to brawl, who would most likely come out on top????

    MMA fighter.

I think the boxer would, unless the MMA figher just charges the boxer and gets him on the ground.

If the MMA fighter throws a punch, I think the boxer will be able to slip it and counter. If the boxer throws the first punch, the fight will probably be over.

Here you go. Boxer Art Jimmerson (29-5 as a professional at the time) vs Royce Gracie, from UFC 1 which was under true vale tudo rules - that means "anything goes" in Portugese for those not familiar with MMA lingo. Basically a street fight.

Jimmerson taps out before Royce even applies any submission holds to him because he is so completely lost on the ground. And Royce wasn't even an MMA fighter, he didn't have any standup or wrestling skills, just his Jiu Jitsu. Modern MMA fighters train in striking, wrestling and submission grappling so someone who only knows how to box is going to get beaten even worse.

Boxers don't know how to sprawl against a double leg takedown, check a leg kick, defend against a kimura etc. Boxing and MMA are both great sports with talented fighters, but the more well rounded MMA fighter is going to beat a boxer 99 times out of 100.

They meet in a street fight and neither knows the other's profession? 50/50.

The MMA guy knows that the other guy is a boxer? 90/100 MMA wins.

There are more factors than being a mma guy or a boxer that come into play, but just for the sake of it, the MMA guy wins 9 times out of ten. That's considering that the MMA guy is well rounded and has good stand up.

the mma guy would obviously have to go for a takedown or whatever because he would get eaten alive trying to punch on with a boxer

its a matter of who lands what first, boxer lands the punch its all over, mma guy lands a takedown or kick the boxer is most likely screwed, but a lucky punch could still turn the tide

i say it comes down to individual fighting instinct and reflexes more than anything

MMA guy could wrestle the boxer to the ground and get the best of it as long as it ain't a stand up fight.
