Undefeated featherweight contender Gary Russell Jr. (21-0) faces Vyacheslav Gusev (20-2) later tonight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. I can honestly say that I think Nonito Donaire brings more to the table than Rigondeaux. The reason why I say that is because me and Rigondeaux competed for (amateur) world championships. He is a southpaw. He is really skilled but he is a one-handed fighter. All of his power comes from his left hand. Where as Nonito is more even handed. I definitely would give him the upper hand but how he takes a punch from Rigondeaux will also be a factor. That is going to be a very interesting fight to watch
      Interesting read.

OMG. I have got to find footage of Rigondeaux vs. Russell going at it in the amateurs.

I'm a big Russel fan, he's a great prospect and future champion for sure. He has lightning fast speed, he seems to have good power too. We haven't seen it against anyone in the top ten but I'm sure he can rock some of the top guys. He's in STACKED division right now.

He did not beat Rigo back then if he ever fought him, he would've said it.
Maybe he has a tape of it but wouldn't share with us, just like Mares has his vs Rigo in the Pan-Am games, that I politely asked him to uploaded it to youtube but I'm still waiting for it.

Good insight from Gary Russell Jr. Nonito should make a note and stay away from Rigo's left hand.

He fought Rigo in the amateurs. Why can't he talk about that?

I don't think you will find it, what I found was he lost to some guy from Germany and got bronze, then Rigo beat the German for the Gold.
