I heard about a Mexican woman chief of police being killed on the radio and this gal came to mind. Wasn't her, but it's still pretty tragic:

First Female Police Chief Murdered

One of these female police chiefs that I am talking about, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, was murdered by the drug cartels. Hermila Garcia, was gunned down Nov. 29. She was from the small border town Meoqui, and was just 36 years old. She assumed her post In October, on the 9th and was the first female police chief in Mexico…and the first female Police Chief to be murdered.

The assailants caught up to her in the small town of Los Garcia, it’s only about 10 kilometers from Meoqui. She was gunned down around 7:20 a.m. on Monday. Garcia was in was the head of about 90 police agents in the primarily agricultural area of the state of Chihuahua.
