The art of pugilism, as Howard Cosell once said, “Is chillingly simple: One man purposefully endeavors to inflict bodily harm on another man”. The practice of Bikram Yoga, a 90 minute series of Hatha Yoga postures performed in a room heated to 40C, aims: “To deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body.”

At first glance, the two practices seem unlikely bedfellows. And yet an increasing number of Britain’s top boxers have begun to incorporate Bikram Yoga into their training regimes.

“It’s a mad Ying and Yang mix,” said Denton Vassell, Commonwealth Welterweight Champion, when speaking to BoxingScene about Yoga. “But it fits as one.”

Yoga no doubt is good for flexibilty & posture but doing it in a hot room making you de-hyrdated is not going to help you perform.... dehydration plays a negative effect on your body.

idiots need to go do some research before jumping on band wagon.

You are encouraged to take water in with you when doing Bikram, and can drink in the breaks in between postures. Though the ultimate aim is to come fully hydrated, then rehydrate afterwards. Personally, I've never felt any negative effects during or after Bikram and would think that it only carries a risk of dehydration in the same way that any physical activity/work out does. If you're sensible, you'll be ok!

again you are fooled by hype.... you would benefit more doing yoga for an hour straight than putting your body through stress in excess heat getting dehydrated....

It does not carry the same risk as any form of exercise as your core is raised by atleast x3....go read about dehydratiion or even google the sham which is bikram.

its funny what people come out with who dont ever actually research what they re doing just doing cos it because 'they re mate' said so... dumb ass Manchester boxers
