  • Should Haye take legal action against Vitali for breaking verbal fight agreement?

In the post-fight press conference of the Vitali vs Chisora fight, Vitali and Boente verbally agreed that Vitali Klitschko would fight David Haye if he fought and defeated Dereck Chisora. Unfortunately, they now seem to have rescinded on their side of the deal and appear very reluctant to go through with the fight. However, the verbal agreement was recorded on video camera and could potentially be used in a court of law as evidence of a broken contract.

Should David Haye take (or threaten to take) legal action against Vitali Klitschko if he continues to refuse to fight him?

Just the simple comment on TV isn't enough to make a cast-iron valid agreement. There is no agreement. There are no clauses no discussion of terms....... nothing.

Haye would just be throwing away a lot of money.

Should the boxing fans of the world take legal action against Haye for putting in zero effort vs Wlad after promising to decapitate him. Get over it Haye is a loudmouth coward.

Possibly but possibly not. Whether it's enough evidence to convict would be a decision of the court after the legal process has concluded.

Vitali doesn't want any lawsuits hanging over his head given his political aspirations, so for Haye to threaten a lawsuit it might actually force Vitali into the fight, just so they can avoid potential legal action.

Haye might not win the case, but Vitali might risk affecting his political position if he doesn't fight. Who wants to vote for someone who promises one thing and doesn't deliver - this is what the evidence amounts to, it could affect him politically if the legal case gets mass exposure, which his adversaries would ensure happens.

I think Haye is almost in a checkmate position with this, but his team doesn't seem to realize it yet.

Vitali is looking to get into politics, that's why potential legal action is something which could affect his political ambitions in the future. It doesn't work in most other boxing scenarios, based on a verbal agreement.

But with a politician it's a different story, it's evidence which could sway the voting public because, to keep it simple, it's proof that Vitali says one thing but does another.

If there's one thing boxing needs, it's more litigation.
