I went to Wal-Mart yesterday cause I needed to restock on my deodorant, the only thing I buy from there, and I took a look at their movie section. American movies are commonly watched here, most of them illegally. A nice DVD copy is about 8rmb tops for a very good copy with the artwork and all. I wanted to see how much a legit American DVD would cost so I figured Wal-Mart would sell them for sure. So I looked at Shutter Island, 13rmb ($1.90), Ninja Assassin, 13.5rmb, and this kept going on and on. I'm fairly sure Wal-Mart in China is selling pirated DVD's. I was looking for a proof of purchase on the sleeve and there wasn't one.

I never expected to see it in Wal-Mart though. Thats what shocked me.
On a side note, why would you go to Wal-Mart to buy a pirated DVD when the same exact copy is sold on a bed sheet on every block for 8rmb or less. Seriously, their copies are good.
