  • Comments Thread For: Marco Huck To Retain His WBO Title With Povetkin Bout

A few boxers were disapointed to learn that Marco Huck will retain his WBO cruiserweight championship. A few fighters, like mandatory challenger Ola Afolabi, thought Huck was going to vacate the belt or the WBO would possibly strip him of the title. On February 25th in Germany, Huck is moving up in weight to challenge Alexander Povetkin for the WBA's "regular" heavyweight championship.

It's frustrating that these so-called sanctioning bodies will allow a boxer to keep his title when instead of defending it in its weightclass; the titlist decides to fight in another weightclass in purse of another title. We saw that with Omar Narvaez, the WBO Junior Bantamweight Titlist, who moved up to fight Nonito Donaire, the WBC/WBO Bantamweight Titlist in October. He lost but he was still recognized by the WBO as its Junior Bantamweight "Champion". The WBO doing it again... The WBA did that for Roy Jones when he won its Heavyweight title and wanted to go back to Light Heavyweight so they gave it back to Jones... Such B.S.................

The ring made a mistake then. They vacated Huck's #1 spot so that cunningham hernandez II could be for the ring title. If Huck is already planning to go back down to Cruiser, then they made a mistake.
