i'd have to go through '41 to see if there are any other boxers who could have taken conn's place as #2. armstrong had just lost to zivic. conn could very well have been the second best p4p boxer in the world, but again, i am not enough of an expert on '41 to tell you that to a degree of certainty.

Why would you think that? From what source are you getting that impression? Nobody with any credibility listed Holyfield higher pound for pound than Whitaker in 93.

Usually people followed Ring Magazines p4p list in the 90's. The link provides Ring magazines list from the 90's. Holyfield was not higher during any point in the 90's.

I'm not big on P4P ratings, but I'm thinking that Jones and Toney were both close to the top when they fought.

You would think so, but to be honest back then there were no published P4P ratings, at least that I remember. Every boxing magazine just had divisional ratings. Without researching 1978 I'm guessing that Duran must have been at or near the top at that time.
