  • Comments Thread For: Bute vs Mendy Finalized For July 9 Clash in Romania

InterBox has confirmed the finalization of a world championship fight in Romania on July 9, involving the IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute (28-0). "It's a dream come true. Romanians have been behind me since the beginning of my career and I wanted to share the excitement of a world title fight with them. I felt their support from afar, but on July 9 they will be very close to me to encourage me! " [Click Here To Read More]

Makes sense; get the mandatory out of the way, stay active, then fight Kessler in the Fall. Kessler's also taking a tune-up this summer. Looks like Lucian keeping the IBF belt is very important for Showtime. I'm surprised Showtime is OK with these two fighting this summer considering all the investments they've made in Kessler and now Bute.

After this, just put Bute in there with Pavlik and stipulate that the loser never fights again.

Sakio Bika destroyed Mendy in one round but was DQ'd. Joke of a fight for Bute coming off a tune-up.

Is this a tune up for Kessler or what?
