  • Comments Thread For: Alvarado vs. Provodnikov WBO Title Bout is Possible

According to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, junior welterweight contender Mike Alvarado (33-1, 23KOs) will likely contend for the vacant WBO championship in his next fight.

Juan Manuel Marquez, who faces Manny Pacquiao on December 8th in Las Vegas, is likely going to vacate his WBO 140-pound title, says Arum.

The vacant belt would provide Alvarado with the opportunity to fight for a belt - and Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15KOs) is a potential opponent. [Click Here To Read More]

What a joke ! Why ain't rios getting that title fight ?
At least he could sort of warrant a PAC fight if he has a strap

You think Arum doesn't have something lined up for Rios?!..

that's his goal..feed a lil belt to Alvarado for setting him up..while Rios gets a Pacquiao/Marquez shot..

so is arum now steering their paths away from each other? one gets to fight for a title while the other gets shelved to be preserved for a pac fight.

This probably shouldn't be for a belt but it's an all action fight stylistically.

Actually, I dont have a problem with that fight. Alvarado put up a solid effort against Rios till he got clipped. Rios demonstrated he is an elite-level fighter and most importantly that he has an fan friendly $tyle. Alvarado lost but he does have the potential to be a champ and rematch Rios at a later time..
