  • Comments Thread For: Frankie Gomez-Vernon Paris Set For July 25th Clash

INDIO, CALIF. - Unbeaten Frankie "Pitbull" Gomez is considered to be the most dangerous prospect in the junior welterweight division and on Friday, July 25, he will face his toughest challenge yet when he meets Florida's Vernon Paris in the 10-round main event of FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes' Golden Boy Live! at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. The co-main event is expected to be just as heated when rising bantamweight star Ivan Morales is featured in a 10-round battle against an opponent to be determined.

As a special treat for fans in attendance, the legendary Erik "El Terrible" Morales won't just be at Fantasy Springs to cheer on his brother Ivan, the Mexican great will also meet and greet fans throughout the evening, making this a fight night that aficionados won't want to miss. Interesting match-up that i'm looking forward to. Gomez stepping up his competition and Paris out to prove he still be a contender and not a stepping stone. After the way Paris had his ass handed to him by Judah when Paris decided to step up his competition, i'm leaning towards Gomez to get the victory.

I'd also like to add that Jose Benavidez needs to catch up to Frankie Gomez. They fought each other in the amateurs and turned pro around the same time and Benavidez was more hyped than Gomez and yet he's still behind Gomez in terms of their careers. At this point i'd pick Gomez to beat Benavidez if they ever fight.

nice fight. Gomez still in the position to salvage for some lost time, he can still be something. and paris has skills, but his slow footwork was in full display against zab. he won't be at that much of a deficit in that area in this ight... this will prob be an inside war

Frankie has a lot of pop on his punches but he has some trouble with movers who can box. Adrian Granados comes to mind.

He will definitely be in good fights especially with guys willing to trade with him.

Didn't Frankie Gomez beat him in the amateurs? Benavidez seems to be a better boxer, but I'd probably pick Gomez to beat him in the pro ranks. Benavidez chin or stamina seem real shaky to me and Gomez is relentless in his attack.

Anyways, I really like this fight. Gomez reminds me a little bit of Shane Mosley. Paris will bang the body and he's a good boxer who should give him a good test...but I still got Gomez by KO

Benavidez chin is in question, we havent really heard a peep out of him since like 2 years ago where he was rocked bad and was lucky to make it out of the round. It was a bad beating he took the last half of the round.
