On July 7th, junior featherweight champion Nonito Donaire offered up another victory, this time over former IBF champion Jeffrey Mathebula. Fighting inside the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, Donaire scored a knockdown in the 4th round off of a wicked counter left and came on strong down the stretch to pull out a unanimous decision by scores of 119-108, 118-109, and 117-110.

One interested spectator who had a close glimpse of Mathebula leading into the fight was five-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach, who opened up the doors of his Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles to the rangy South African.

Rigo is as talented and fundamentally sound as any fighter in the sport. It's just a matter of him getting the shot to really show how good he is against top level opponents.

The two times olimpic gold medalist , the two times world amateur chmpion , the 6 times cuban national champion, a guy who won the wba interim fight on his only 7 fight, won the regular wba title in his 9 fight , a guy who beat gamboa twice, who beat abner mares once , "el chacal " is too much for donaire, rigo will see the openings in donaire defense ,and will tko him to the body. If donaire comes to box , rigo will counter him all night long. Rigo has better power , better defense , is fast .....rigo is a better round boxer. Anyways , make this fight "bob arum " so evryone knows who rigo is. Floyd maywether , andre ward , witaker , broner ....rigondeaux , come from the old school of boxing :"hit and dont get hit ". Destroy your opponent while they can not touch you.

                    lol No doubt.

If it weren't for the Cordoba fight, Rigo's mystique would be off-the-chain. I'm kind of glad Guillermo had that experience. It brings him closer to earth. I think he's great, but things need to be kept in perspective.
