  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin Eyes Two More Fights in 2013 After Macklin Bout

Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions, has advised BoxingScene.com that Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23KOs) will return to ring in November on HBO provided he comes out of his June 29th fight against Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20KOs) with a victory. Loeffler went on to say that they are looking at having Triple G squeeze in one more fight before the year is out. If that happens Golovkin will have fought 5 times this year, almost unheard of for a champion in this day and age. The fifth fight may potentially take place in Monaco in December.

Good for Golovkin. So many of these alphabet champs fight so infrequently that it's a disservice to the sport as well as their fan bases. Hopefully GGG and Sergio Martinez will get it on early next year.

David Haye and other divas need to learn from him. It's called dedication. Nothing but respect for GGG

I love when prime fighters stay active especially champions.

Martinez,Sturm and Pirog would be well advised to steer clear of this freight train.id like to see him utilise more foot movement though,he's such a static target.forget Ward he's too big,but Mayweather and Alvarez have far too much superior movement over this guy.Ward is too big for him,its too much of a mismatch.

If Golovkin beats Macklin, an established world-level contender, well, or brutally, I struggle to see what recognised name, or quality opponent will be willing to fight him. HBO will need to work some magic.

              5 fights in a year. That's a true champ.

HBO is getting around people avoiding GGG by simply turning GGG into an attraction. Love it!

You clearly dislike david haye n wanted to diss him for some reason by mentioning just him when so many top younger fighters fight like 2x a year now on days.
