  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Emergency Motion is Denied, Fight Still Off

BoxingScene.com has been advised that a Circuit Court hearing was held earlier this morning in Miami, Florida - and the court denied the emergency motion filed last Friday by WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo "El Chacal" Rigondeaux (10-0, 8 KOs). Last week, the Circuit Court enjoined Rigondeaux from engaging in any bout not approved by his manager, Gary Hyde, and also enjoined Rigondeaux from participating in a September 15th defense against Roberto Marroquin (22-1, 15 KOs) on the undercard of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Sergio Martinez HBO Pay-Per-View, taking place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

      Owned.

Take a seat Rigo. You're screwed for the time being. Boxing is on a mission to not let us shine.

Best bet is to find a way to get rid of Hyde and go with GBP. Get yourself on that Mares-Moreno card.

At the age of 31, time is his worst enemy.

Why? If Hyde has a legitimate contract (or, for that matter, Caribe) he has every right to enforce his end of the bargain. Two judges, thus far, have seen enough evidence to stop Rigo's fight with Marroquin. It seems clear that Guillermo was doing something wrong. What baffles me is that Top Rank, with their vaunted lawyers and experience, didn't foresee potential trouble with this particular fight. Nobody's perfect.

Does anyone know if Top Rank is trying to schedule another undercard fight for September 15? Since this one is cancelled

Nah he wasn't getting credit for fighting Marroquin anyway,

Yea, Marroquin's opponent was already announced. It's on an article somewhere on BScene.
