  • Comments Thread For: Rocky Martinez vs. Juan Carlos Burgos Being Worked Out

Discussions continue for a mandatory fight between World Boxing Organization featherweight champion Roman 'Rocky' Martinez (26-1-1, 16KOs) of Puerto Rico and top challenger Juan Carlos Burgos (30-1, 20KOs) of Mexico. Martinez won the 130-pound crown on September 15 in Las Vegas with a split decision over Miguel Beltran Jr. The problem right now is finding a proper date to stage the event. The remainder of the year is already booked up tight. One potential date being considered by Puerto Rico Best Boxing is December 15th, but the date is far from being solid.

Has the makings to be another Mexico vs PR classic.

Both of these guys have lost on the road, so I figure 50/50 unless it goes to PR.

Burgos will do the same thing to Martinez that he did to Cruz.

            Which Cruz?

Outwork Roky like he did a trigger shy Luis Cruz, or survive a decision like he did Cristobal Cruz?

Anyway Burgos is 1-1 in 12 round fights and hopefully Martinez brings it to him.

The Burgos who beat both those Cruz's is going to finish off what Beltran couldn't, and most likely be a TKO stoppage! If it's in PR con mas Ganas by TKO cuz you wont get a decision there

Should be a hell of a fight. I'll take Rocky. More polished, better straight shots, and that should be key to hitting Burgos inside the looping, wide punches he throws.
