  • Comments Thread For: Matthew Macklin Destroys Joachim Alcine in One

Thomas & Mack, Las Vegas - Middleweight contender Matthew Macklin (29-4) was able to get back in the winner's circle after his dominant TKO victory over Joachim Alcine (33-3-1). Macklin jumped on Alcine early dropping him twice in the opening minute of the fight. He then unleashed a flurry of punches that Alcine didn't answer which forced referee Jay Nady to strip the fight at the 2:36 mark of the 1st round. Before the fight Macklin had said that he hoped a win would lead him to a fight against the Chavez-Martinez winner. His performance definitely didn't hurt his chances.

This fight was completely pointless. It wasn't even a filler. Macklin will make no noise in the middle weight division. His missed the train. Disgusting that he couldn't make weight for his first fight back in the USA.

I thought the way Macklin put him away was impressive. Hope he can get in there with Geale, Murray, Barker or Lee.

Good comeback fight for Macklin. Didn't expect him to win so early. He's not really a banger at the higher level but Alcine's chin hardly solid....

Hopefully he won't be out of the ring so long. Needs to fight more often than every ten months.

couldn't agree more. Macklin needs to stay more active, get in there with Lee, beat him and then push for challenging Geale or a rematch with Sturm. A second Martinez fight is useless, he would only get stopped earlier.

he's not on Martinez's dance card anyway, mate. Lee would be a great bout. Forget Sturm unless he wants to fight in the Isles or States.

Alcine got blown out in 1 like vs Angulo... Macklin hurt ALcine who looked dry and just kept the pressure high on ALcine who couldn't recup...

Alcine didn't have the crowd and emtional factor in this one like he had vs Lemieux

Hls of the TKO and KDs Here if you couldn't catch it:
