Many people in Pittsburgh felt that Bobo could give Joe Louis a good fight yet didn't think he could beat Burley in the ring. He had kayoed Elmer 'Violent' Ray and 'Jersey' Joe Walcott in sparring sessions and forced middleweight champion Marcel Cerdan out of the gym, (Charley was supposed to be Cerdan's first opponent in America!).

I think he fought Charles twice and lost both times, a great nonetheless.

He didn't beat Cerdan up, Burley was supposed to be Cerdan's American Debut fight but Cerdan went to see him in the gym and he left after seeing how good he was and changed opponent too Georgie Abrams, they didn't spar I don't think.

Don't know about Walcott.

What does feather fisted have to do with beating an all time who's who of his era? Do you penalize Willie Pep the same way? Very clear he was a ducked fighter who bear nearly every top fighter of his era.

Burley never sparred with Cerdan or ko'd Walcott.
He did however knock Elmer Ray out of the ring after Ray got mouthy, Burley was a welter weight and Ray a heavyweight.
Take no notice of Queensbury Fool he knows **** all about anything.
Burley was a very hard puncher.
In1944 giving Archie Moore 6 pounds he dropped him 4 times.
In 1942 151lbs Burley took on Jay D Turner219lbs and beat the **** out of him stopping him in 6 rds.
1942 Burley fought 112-30-23 Jackie Burke knocked him down 7 times and stopped him in7rds.
1938 Burley conceded 8 lbs toJjmmy Bivins and floored him.
In1938 Burley knocked Cocoa Kid down 3 times.
1945 Giving away 6 lbs Burley floored Oakland Billy Smith twice.
In 83 wins Burley score 50 kos.
